4. Data Anonymization & Aggregation
Individual operator data is never shared, disclosed, or made identifiable to any other user, competitor, or third party.
All operator-submitted data undergoes a strict anonymization and aggregation process before inclusion in any benchmark or report:
- Anonymization: All identifying information (operator name, property name, specific address) is removed from the data
- Minimum aggregation threshold: Benchmarks are only generated when data from a minimum of five (5) operators is available, preventing any individual operator's data from being identifiable
- Time delay: Operator-submitted data is delayed a minimum of three (3) months before inclusion in any benchmark, ensuring current competitive positioning is never exposed
- Statistical review: Aggregated outputs are reviewed to ensure no individual data point can be reverse-engineered or inferred
5. Data Sharing & Disclosure
AskJim does not sell, rent, or share your personal information or operator-submitted data with third parties, except in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers: Trusted third-party services that help us operate the platform (e.g., cloud hosting, email delivery), bound by strict confidentiality agreements
- Legal requirements: When required by law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request
- Safety and security: To protect the rights, property, or safety of AskJim, our users, or the public
- Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case users will be notified
We will never share individual operator data with other operators or competitors under any circumstances.
6. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information:
- Encryption: All data is encrypted in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest
- Access controls: Strict role-based access controls limit who within AskJim can access operator data
- Infrastructure: Data is hosted on secure, SOC 2-compliant cloud infrastructure
- Authentication: Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms and are never stored in plain text
- Monitoring: We monitor for unauthorized access attempts and security anomalies
While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Data Retention
Account information is retained for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we will delete your personal information within 90 days, except where retention is required by law.
Operator-submitted data that has already been incorporated into anonymized, aggregated benchmarks will remain part of those benchmarks, as it is no longer identifiable. Raw operator-submitted data will be deleted within 90 days of account closure.
Usage data is retained in anonymized form for analytics purposes and is not linked to individual accounts after deletion.
